Dr. Sucharita Datta Ghata is a Kathak exponent from Kolkata,West Bengal. She is a ‘TOP’- Grade Artiste of Doordarshan and is empanelled in Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC), The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and Spicmacay India. Sucharita is an Internationally clamied artiste. She has received guidance from eminent gurus of Kathak from India, namely Vidushi Amita Dutt, Vidushi Susmita Mishra, Vidushi Saswati Sen and Padma Vibhushan Pt. Birju Maharaj ji.She is also a trained Bharatnatyam dancer, by Guru. Girija Balgopal ji,under guidance of Guru Thankamani Kutty ji in Kalamandalam kolkata, and later on under the guidance of Guru Kalamandalam Venkitt. She ranked First Class First in M.A, in the subject of Kathak and is a Gold-Medalist from Pre-Degree to M.A Level examination in the same, from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. She has received her Doctorate degree in kathak from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata.
She is a National Scholar and Junior Research Fellow Artists of the Central Govt. of India. Sucharita has also received prestigious titles and awards in her journey. She has also performed is highly prestigious Dance Festivals in India and Abroad like USA, Canada, South Korea, Bangkok, etc.Currently, she is in the kathak Faculty of The Uttarpara Sangeet Chakra, and the academic Council member of ‘Sarva Bhartiya Sangeet-o-Sanskriti Parishad’ and an active examiner of Rabindra Bharati University.
